The course will be held in an old foundry, once used for floor casting up to 2,000-kg iron products. The foundry was established by the Tuomaala brothers Eino and Olavi in 1955. The traditional casting methods are now being used in the third generation. In the course, you will learn about traditional metal casting and cast a small bronze item, such as a keyring, using a traditional sand-casting method. The sand-casting mould will be prepared in a two-part flask using workshop models, or you can also try making a small model of your own. After the moulding and once the casting flask is ready, the over 1,000-degree molten bronze will be poured into the flask. Then we will take a coffee break, after which the mould will be opened and the cast product will be finished.
