Rock painting hike to Astuvansalmi

Sustainable nature experiences, nature accommodation and local food near Mikkeli in Lake Saimaa. Located 50 km from Mikkeli city centre, you will find the perfect place to immerse yourself deep in nature and local lifestyle at Uhkua. Our floating sauna will guarantee ultimate relaxation and our floating raft accommodation the best night’s sleep. Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, and food made from local and homegrown ingredients is our passion. We provide guided tours, activities and equipment rental for you to explore the surrounding nature. Our floating raft accommodation is a haven for switching off from everyday life. Built from recycled materials and accessible by a rowing boat, the raft sleeps 1-3 and has no electricity or running water. There is a gas-powered fridge, stove, BBQ and a composting toilet. The raft has a large terrace for you to enjoy the beautiful lake views surrounding you. Rental price includes a welcome drink, 2,5 hr use of the floating sauna and access to the rowing boat. We will deliver a basket of local delicacies for an extra fee. We can also accommodate 8-12 people for meals in our own home which is a traditional log cabin. Our saunas offer a great experience of traditional Finnish sauna rituals. Starting with heating the wood burning stove and carrying the water in from the lake, you can take a break and enjoy a drink on the terrace. After the gentle steam of the sauna, you can take a refreshing dip in the cooling waters of Lake Saimaa. The saunas fits 4-6 people at a time and the raft carries 12 people in total. Our guided activities can be tailormade for you whether it’s paddling, snowshoeing, fishing, hiking, foraging or eating a fabulous meal out in nature.
